INSTRUCTIONS
TASK 1: PROJECT PROPOSAL
The initial brief by Ms.Anis was to follow the guidelines and come up with a topic for our project. The topic was to be chosen from one of the 17 Sustaible development goals by United Nations. my initial idea was to go for sustainable fishing and I did the proposal for it as seen below.
After doing some more research and brainstorming I decided to change the topic to something else. I wanted to try something different that would be a bigger challenge and a fun experience for me. So I decided to choose SDG 3 and specifically awareness against smoking for my topic. Here is the submission for my project proposal.
TASK 2: PROJECT MILESTONE PRESENTATION
I was pretty satisfied with the topic and the new scope it brought along with the idea to choose dark humour and 3d modeling because it was a fun approacha dna much bigger challenge that I have been wanting to attempt so I figured it was a good opportunity to attempt 3d modeling. I first started by sketching lots of weird and different packagings for cigarettes that are not ideal or practical as cigrarette packagings. I skeched different structures from complex to simpler designs.
After that I decided which ones I will use and started modeling them in Blender.
After doing the renders I updated the progress and presented the milestone presentation which is attached below.
TASK 3: FINAL PRESENTATION
The final outcomes took a lot of tedious work. I did the branding designs for 4 different packaging designs using idiotic brand names that are visually inspired from real cigarette brands but verbally written to mock or ridicule smokers and to deliver the message accross of how ridiculous smoking really is.
I designed the brandings on illustrator and applied the brandings to the packagings on blender. I later did the setting for the poster renders and then applied the other typographic elements to the final poster on Photoshop. Here are the final renders without typography.
FINAL OUTPUT:
Below are te final mockups of the posters. The mockups are made to look relatable in intentionally unattractive locations.
REFLECTION: I very much enjoyed the process of executing the idea into the final outputs and I am pretty satisfied with the final outcomes. But more than that I am very happy about how much I learned especially regarding 3D modeling and packaging. I learned a lot about doing real life models and make them visually presentable without resorting to mockups and materials from web which never really gives me what i need them to look like. With 3D I learned how to create the exact setting and execute the idea that i had which was a huge step up for me.
Miss Anis gave very good feedback and gave the right directions to go with the project. But due to some of classes fallling on public holidays or getting cancelled there were some times that I lost track of where to go from but eventually I managed to get everything sorted out and learn the things I needed to know to execute the ideas I had.
