FINAL REFLECTION:
Experience: My experience with this module has been really positive. I had been looking forward to this module because of my background as a calligrapher and a learning typographer. Even though I expected the module to be a basic introduction, I learned a lot each day from our lecturers and from the provided materials. But most of all, the assignments and exercises were the ones I learnt the most from. I made my very first font which is a huge step for me personally and I would definitely make more in the future.
Observation: The most important thing I observed on this module was the importance of precision and details used to perfect typographic designs. From making typefaces to formatting text, every single detail plays a huge role in order to make a product that has the typographic qualities. I observed how famous fonts were built from scratch and the tiny bits of detailing done to make the perfect designs. I also observed the importance of typographic elements such as kerning and tracking in larger text formatting.Findings: I've always been fascinated by some logos and hate some for their designs. I also found books boring because of the arrangement of text. But I had never thought much of these things. After I started on this module, I found myself going back to those. I found out that text formatting and breaking-down typographies and logos to analyse them are actually very crucial processes for designers to do everyday. I developed a habit of going back to such logos and books to find the issues I had back then and I found that I'd understood the issues much better than I did before.
FEEDBACK:
Week 14:
General Feedback: On the e-portfolio, make sure the format is well, make sure the links and labels work properly. The title for final post is "Typography - Final Compilation & Reflection"
Specific Feedback: On the feedback sheet, I wasn't marked for any which means there aren't any issues.
