Task 3: Type Design and communication
LECTURES
Telegram sticker packs: The main lecture for this task was based on an article regarding telegram sticker packs. Unlike most social media platforms, telegram has their own sticker bot which does all the work itself in creating sticker packs. We just have upload the sticker and to answer the questions.

INSTRUCTIONS
For this task, we were instructed to create stickers of occasional greeting messages that will be used to create a full sticker pack using the works by all the students compiled together. Mr Vinod and Mr.Shamsul opened for suggestions for greeting messages and asked us to choose. From the suggestions, I chose "Happy typography Day" as my sticker.
I tried to do a minimal sticker with that connects with typography and tried not overdoing it. I made some designs and showed them to Mr.Vinod and he said it doesn't look like a sticker and that the type is too plain and uninteresting. So I kept designing and getting feedback and corrections. I did a lot of designs Mr.Vinod wasn't happy with.

After 3 attempts and feedback, I showed Mr.Vinod my 4th design and he said it looks good enough. I liked the fact that he asked me to do it again and again because even though it turns out to be a let down on every try, I can see that every new one is better than the previous one and I understood the importance of that. So when Mr.Vinod approved my design, I made some final adjustments and created border sizes that would suit the design on telegram which has a pretty dark interface.

STICKER:
After making the sticker on Illustrator, Mr.Vinod told us to make it a telegram sticker. He provided a link to learn how to make a sticker pack in telegram. Sticker Bot was fairly easy to make sticker packs with. For my sticker, even though I was happy with my design, I wasn't sure about the how much the white outline should be. I felt like I should try with multiple outlines since telegram has a very dark interface so my sticker might look weird.
Using the sticker bot, I made three versions of my sticker with two different border styles and published two sticker packs and tested it with a friend. Here is the result.

FEEDBACK
Week 11:
Specific Feedback: I showed my first design and Mr.Shamsul said it looks alright but Mr.Vinod didn't agree. He said it looks too plain and not like a sticker. He said I need to ease up on the plainness of the letters.
General Feedback: Not to use too many graphic elements. Make a colourful sticker that resembles the occasion.
Week 12:
Specific Feedback: I showed Mr.Vinod my new design and he didn't like them. He told me to try again. I made a new one and showed him the design and he didn't like it either. He told me to try again. On the 4th one, he said it looks decent.
General Feedback: Finalise task 3B and all the previous tasks.
Week 13:
Specific Feedback: I had received final feedback for Task 3B on Week 12
General Feedback: Make a final e-portfolio post to summarise all the tasks of the module and re-check all the task posts for final submission.
REFLECTIONS
Experience: Since Task 3A was about making a font and 3B was about making a telegram sticker, I think I took things a bit too easy because it felt easy and not so interesting. Also I was more focused on other modules. But when I showed my design to Mr.Vinod and he didn't approve my design, I felt that I should be paying more attention to it so I worked on it more and made a new design which was rejected as well. Mr.Vinod rejected my designs 3 times and finally approved my 4th. Even though it got a bit frustrating, looking back at my previous sticker designs, I saw much improvement in the next one which motivated me to make more and more. It was a challenging and fun experience to do the same design over and over again with a different style each time.
Observation: I observed that any design, no matter how much time and effort you put to it, if you look back at it you can see that it can always be better. Which is a crucial thing for designers to keep in mind I think.
Findings: I found that it is crucial for designers to keep an open mind about criticism. Because it's all about perspective and we tend to be biased towards our own work and be limited to our imagination. But to be better designers, we have to come out of that box. We always have to listen to and reflect to criticism with an open mind even though we don't always have to agree with them.
