Task 1A: Case study

For the first task of this module, Ms.Lilian briefed us to study and understand an established personal branding, and to do a case study based on that brand.

I did some background research on various personal branding and decided to base my case study on Leonardo DiCaprio because of his achievements and work towards environmental awareness and activism.

Task 1B: Personal Brand Proposal

For task 1B, Ms.Lilian briefed us to come up with a personal brand of one of our colleagues and to create a personal brand proposal that will be used in the coming tasks as well. She assigned a classmate for each of us to do the branding for. Ashley Lim was assigned for me to do the branding of.

I did some background research on how to create branding. The first task was to get to know Ashley, her background, her interests, hobbies, views...etc. So I talked to Ashley and we decided to do an online interview using a questionnaire. Below are the questions I asked her via the questionnaire as well the answers she replied to them.

Apart from the questionnaire, I used WhatsApp to clarify more information.

After getting the information That I needed, I began researching on how to go about creating a brand proposal. I divided the different key points and created slides for each of the key points.

I used Adobe Illustrator to design the proposal slides.

Feedback:

Week 2: Did not show much progress since I was absent on the first week.

Week 3: For the case study, the briefing and details were understood, however the case study would've been better if it was more detailed and with more visual refereces. The progress on proposal is good. For the customer journey map, do some research and think on how a customer would go about from being introduced about the brand to becoming a loyal customer of the brand.

Reflection:

Tasks 1A and 1B are fairly simple considering previous tasks and are more focused on researching and understanding. The case study was quite interesting to read through different personal brand stories and how they created their brands. Task 1B was more fun as I had to learn about Ashley by doing interviews. It was nice to see her works and interview about her hobbies, interests, experiences...etc. Overall, task 1 is very straightforward and simple and I enjoyed the process of it.
