20.09.2021 - 04.10.2021 (Week 5 - Week 7)
Hussain Waheed (0344802)
Bachelor of Design (Hons) in Creative Media
Task 2A & 2B - Key Artwork, Collateral and Animated Invite
INSTRUCTIONS:
Key artwork:
For this exercise, we were instructed to create a logo / monogram that reflects myself and my profession / designation. I decided I want to be a type designer and tried to create a typographic or a calligraphic approach when designing my monogram.

I designed 3 drafts and decided to go with the last one.

Poster:
For the poster, we were told to create the design of an invite to an event regarding my profession. I made the design using textures to give the street poster feel even though the poster will be delivered online. I used very few colours since I preferred to emphasise o nblacks and whites.

Collateral:
For the collateral, I wanted to showcase a studio to showcase my design work. SO for the collateral artwork, I used a studio sign board mockup to show my monogram.
I also wanted to show other branding material used. Here is one I created for stationaries for which I used gold on black because it seemed neater.

Flat Lay:

Animated Invite:
For the animated invite, I used the minimal colour scheme and the diamond shape that I used very prominently in creating the stroke ends of my monogram as the key element when designing the animated invite.

FEEDBACK:
Week 8:
ILW
Week 7:
General Feedback: Look up sites that offer colour balance (eg. adobe colour). The key artword needs to work as both a logo for your identity and an artwork as well.
Specific Feedback: Good effects. Monogram needs more work and exploration. After placing the objects of the poster on the canvas, explore with the composition and placements to see which way works better.
Week 6:
General Feedback: Think of the occupation / intended purpose of creating the logo / brand to understand how it needs to be designed. Blackout the form to judge the shapes and composition
Specific Feedback: Form is too simple. Needs more exploration and work. Serifs get faded into the black. Serifs need to be more robust.
REFLECTIONS:
Experience: The whole task 2 experience was a mix-up of busy scheduling and due dates so I am not very happy with the work I did or the time I spent on task 2 especially because of struggles with Research methodology assignments. I feel like I could do more with time well spent on this task.
Observation: I observed the impact of using collaterals and flat-lays on designs and how they are immediately observed as. Especially as a tool to deliver your designs and brandings, It is a very useful way to present your designs in a more meaningful way.
Findings: I found that struggling with due dates with procrastination is not the way to do it. The more you do and the sooner you do the better.
