Digital & Social Media Communication - Final compilation and Reflection

INSTRUCTION:

For this module, Mr.Asrizal took us to Codium, a design firm with young designers. We had to collaborate with Codium to design weekly content for their clients. Our classmates were grouped, My group had two others, Ashley and Farah. We as a group had to come up with 4 contents each week including one video. And we had to submit our ideas one week before execution. Below is the task guideline provided by Codium:

TASK 1: CLIENT BACKGROUND RESEARCH

TASK 2: INSIGHT ANALYTICS

CONTENT IDEATION

CONTENT EXECUTION:

We distributed the execution for the ideas weekly among group members. We decided that the person who proposed an idea execute it themselves so the idea does not get misunderstood or out of place. Each of us did one or two posts per week. Below are the content I designed.

1. Everybody wants a bite - Photo manipulation

I saw a funny illustration of a running noodle bowl on internet and thought it might be nice to try for a post. I cooked noodles and had to take a lot of pictures of noodles in different ways to use for different body parts of the figure. I also took photos of my hand doing different signs and blended all the photos in photoshop.

Below is the final result:

2. Titanic - Photo manipulation

The idea for this post was to use a popular cinema joke regarding the ending of the movie Titanic. I thought of using it as a reference to enjoy FATBOI noodles while binge watching movies. For this post, I cooked a bowl of noodles and took photos near my laptop and later edited the movie frame and dialogues into it using photoshop.

 Here is the final result:

3. Deepawali - Illustration

This post was designed for the occasion of deepawali. When I was looking for ideas, I came across a Pinterest post that had noodles used in a way that appears like a flame. SO I thought of using that as the flame on deepawali diyas. I used similar bowl as that of the Diya and used deepawali inspired designs beneath the bowl.

Here is the final result:

4. Color GIF

For the GIF, the idea was to make a simple screenshot-game for followers to screenshot and post when all the packages align with their flavour and colour on the background. For this GIF I used the provided packagings and used same shade backgrounds on photoshop. The process was fairly straightforward as It was a simple idea.

Below is the final result in different aspect ratios.

5. Pumpkin flavour - photo manipulation

For this one, I saw a similar idea on Pinterest so I put it on the idea sheet and it was approved by Codium. I used an image of a pumpkin and sliced it into a swirl and applied shadings and textures on photoshop to make it look photorealistic. Then I put the packaging image inside the pumpkin.

Here is the final result:

6. Oats - Stop motion

The idea for this post was to use stop motion to write a typography. After looking at the flavours I decided to use oats as it was the most suitable item for a stop motion typo video among the flavours. I made a setup with my phone as the camera and a few lights and used a black paper as the background to make the type stand out contrasted from the back. I used Adobe Lightroom to edit all the photos in sync and export to photoshop to make the video and then made the final touches on Premier pro.

Here is the final result:

FEEDBACK:

Codium was very happy with our content and said good things about the works that we did. They approved all our ideas as well and helped us with design direction and styles.

REFLECTION:

DSMC was an interesting module since we got to collaborate with an actual client through a design firm and get their insight about managing social media platforms for brands and handling content. People at Codium were very friendly and helpful with our designs although I felt like the amount of content we were tasked to complete weekly was a little too many. as we had only 3 members it was difficult to complete more than one content per each person every week while attempting other assignments and modules. But overall it was a very good experience and I learned a lot about handling brand content in social media. I am very happy that Codium used our designs in their client's official pages. It was very nice working with my group mates Ashley and Farah to create the designs each week and we managed to deliver good results.
